The Deus Ex series are action RPGs that first launched back in 2000. On a visual level, it was heavily inspired by the Blade Runner movie. However, its narrative is driven by a similar kind of conspiracy and intrigue that tapped into the popularity of the X-Files TV show. It is a series that fans of the cyberpunk genre should look into, and it certainly deserves to make a comeba

Well - that’s the perspective I often glean from social media, which is a breeding ground for aggressive transphobia and discussion around issues that seem more enamoured with parroting the views of bigots instead of placing an importance on the minority at the centre of it all. It’s difficult to be heard, especially when the government and so many prominent figures in the media seem happy to label trans people as predators, snowflakes, or a weird trend that can be phased out with enough opposition.

Diving into a good RPG for a gamer is much like committing oneself to a good book. The idea is for players to lose themselves in these deep worlds of fantasy, science fiction, and even the modern-day. Perhaps more than any other genre, the RPG features deep and meaningful worlds with characters that can become personal to the pla

A game has been made by Ghibli before, but it would be incredible for an open world game that allows players to jump between some of the most iconic Ghibli worlds and meet some of the most iconic and legendary Ghibli characters of all t

Shrek is one of the most popular animated franchises of all time, with the series subverting the expectations of the fairy tale genre and introducing elements that appealed to both adults and children al

I’ve no doubt that a number of talented developers worked on this game, but they’ll be paid for their work regardless of its success, so we should arguably just deny its existence or interact with it in a way that is keenly aware of the context in which it exists. Rowling will make money from this game, although she’s arguably got too much to spend in a single lifetime already, but supporting her means you are indirectly complicit in views she can share and reinforce using a platform that is almost untouchable. We could deplatform smaller figures for their bigotry, but she exists in another realm altogether. She’s like The Queen or John Cena, a larger than life figure who also happens to believe I shouldn’t exist.

Earlier this week saw JK Rowling once again spout transphobic views on social media, with the billionaire author seeking to put down vulnerable people who simply want to be heard and accepted instead of demonised. The Harry Potter author makes it clear that she "knows and loves trans people" in her life but every facet of this ideology goes against that viewpoint. I’m not buying it, and neither are so many cisgender people on my social media who are happy to quote tweet these instances to dunk on Rowling and stand up for people like me.

It's not too different from its previous instalment but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The graphics are better, puzzles slightly more interesting and the title, despite being made from plastic, is darker than before. There's a whole load of things to do and items to collect and GameSpot expresses a belief that the series went out on a 'fun' n

As players progress through the game, they'll be able to join a vampire clan, honing their abilities and focusing on whatever skills they wish. With extensive social and combat mechanisms available, Bloodlines 2 looks to be an immersive, bloody good ti

The Diablo series has a long history and a big fanbase thanks to its immersive universe and lore that fans love to delve into. It is a large part of why the Diablo series is the most popular dungeon-crawling RPG series to d

There are history books, notes, and journals to find and read about the history of ELEX . It is believable and adds depth to an immersive world for players to explore and lose themselves in. There is much to uncover about the world and its history, like the cataclysmic comet and how people lived before it

However, again, this is an online game that doesn’t quite fit the same open world design of hogwarts legacy money guide Legacy . It would be great to see an open world game that allowed players to explore the Caribbean with a unique pirate story to experie

All this would feel shallow if the Divinity series did not already have such significant lore and a detailed, lived-in world to back it up. In addition to the Original Sin games, they were preceded by Divine Divinity. Beyond Divinity, and Divinity 2 . The series has a lot of lore for players to dive into, and there are a lot of in-game books and items for players to read up

It might be hard to keep track of exactly what's expected to launch this year, but there's a lot to be looking forward to, even if some things might escape fans' radars the first time around. With notable role-playing titles coming out on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC, here are all the best role-playing games to keep an eye out for in 2
