Simply put, the result is leaps and bounds above the original. Fidelity, special effects and lighting have all improved and it’s clear to see the differences in almost every area. Upgrades to characters and building exteriors are the most noticeable, with faces seeming more realistic and less pixelated and buildings revealing never-before-seen nuances. Even trees in the backgrounds and leaves on the pathways of villages are more detailed. Everything has a smooth look which gives it a nice overall aesthetic comparable to other Xbox 360 games. The only flaw in the new look is that sometimes things can be a bit too smoothed over and come across a little smeary. Sometimes the sharp edges of the original helped to keep objects separated, something that can sometimes be a problem here. The other continually noticeable boost is the lighting, with plenty of new shadow effects and nuances between different lighting situations, where as before things were basically light or dark. Overall, while it’s not perfect and hampered by the fact that practically every Xbox 360 game now looks long in the tooth, it’s certainly the preferable way to experience the game — nostalgia or not.

Tokyo Game Show 2019 is starting right now at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, going from September 12 to 15. It had a hand in starting the "superhero sandbox" subgenre, which games like InFamous and Prototype expanded on, and garnered its fair share of fans. The success ensured that a sequel was on the way, eventually announced at E3 2009. So in Mega Man 3 , the hero's trusty robotic dog, Rush, was introduced with the special ability to help launch his master high into the air, or become a form on trasnportation, either as a hoverboard or a submarine. That alone made the robo-dog cooler than any other we'd met in real life, and as a result, Rush has become a series mains

But the dog met his true potential in Fallout 3 , first found avenging his deceased master by attacking those who killed him. Once adopted by the player's 'Lone Wanderer,' Dogmeat will assist him in combat, seek out supplies, and above all, provide a well-needed nuzzle along his trying miss

Having expectations blown away is what makes E3 the treat for gamers that it is, and the Game Rant crew has set down the ten (rumored) games that we’re most hoping to see announced at this year's E3. We’ve got our reasons, and there's a good chance you'll agree that any of these games could come out of nowhere to steal a large amount of the buzz coming out of the s

Another big improvement is that of the interfaces. The previous ones were rough even in 2004, seeming basic enough to be more at home with PS1-era games. Thankfully, they've been completely overhauled for this release, matching up better with the subsequent Fable games. Navigation-wise, they’re a bit too clumsy. The triggers, shoulders buttons and analog sticks all come into play when scrolling around, resulting in a learning curve that shouldn’t exist for menus. Still, there’s only so much that can be done and at least the old interface wasn't simply re-skinned.

Since its humble beginnings on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, The Legend of Zelda has grown to become one of the most recognized and highly-acclaimed franchises in all of gaming. Naturally, gamers look forward to each new addition to the series with excitement and anticipat

Set 50 years after the events of Fable III (read our review ), Fable: The Journey tells the story of Gabriel , a young Dweller who becomes separated from his caravan and is ultimately called upon to save Albion from The Corruption, an evil entity that is bent on destroying the land with flowing rivers of ropey, bloody goo. Gabriel is aided in his quest by Theresa, the enigmatic, blind seer from the numbered Fable games, and his horse, Seren. As far as E3 2018 press conferences go, Microsoft's is mostly shrouded in mystery. Some leaks have suggested that Gears of War 5 will be announced at the event, but otherwise, Microsoft has managed to keep its cards close to its chest. Forza Horizon 4 is the only game fans are guaranteed to see at E3, but there's a possibility some of Microsoft's biggest franchises, including Halo and Fable , could also make appearances and Crackdown 3 will likely be a part of the s

For that matter, The Journey's voice acting and score are both top notch, as is the on-screen performance of Gabriel during cutscenes, his subtly exaggerated features easily communicating a wide range of emotions and clearly reflecting his state of mind. He's a likable, distinct hero who frankly deserves a better game. Perhaps he'll get it when Xbox 720 and Kinect 2.0 - with its rumored ability to read lips and recognize emotions - roll around, but for now, there's just no need to take The Journ

E3 2018 is right around the corner, and it's set to be one of the most stacked years for the show yet. There are a number of high profile, blockbuster releases already confirmed for the show, and when one combines those with the surprises that are no doubt in store, it's clear that this year's E3 is going to be h

The final new feature in Fable Anniversary (besides achievements) is that of SmartGlass, something that is weighing heavier and heavier in overall experience these days. As admitted by Lead Designer Ted Timmins, it was basically implemented here as way to test the technology’s capabilities for future implementations. Thanks to that, there are actually a few interesting features that the app offers. Unsurprisingly, it’s basically an interactive map, but they’ve worked with Prima to also provide the locations of key items and characters (without going into too much detail). While this may seem a bit like cheating at first, it’s helpful enough only to ensure that you won’t get lost and makes it so you won’t result to using a full-blown strategy guide.

What we want to see is a combination of the elements that Fable has done well with for the past three iterations with some new concepts that don’t feel tacked on or lacking polish. The idea of becoming king was a fascinating one, but perhaps if it was more action-packed it might have been more success
